The Buckshot Racing #77 Tefzel Coil Ground Wires are crafted using high-grade Tefzel-insulated, stranded-tinned copper wire and premium ring terminals. These wires serve as a direct replacement for Mercury and Mercury Racing OEM Part Number 84-88807A6, a critical black wire assembly used in various Mercury and Mariner outboard motors. Additionally, part number 84-96220-A4 is also no longer available, making this upgrade essential for maintaining proper electrical integrity.
 
As a key earth strap or ground lead, this wire ensures a stable and consistent ground connection within the high-voltage Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) system. A compromised ground can result in erratic ignition, misfires, or even complete engine failure, affecting performance and reliability in high-speed applications.
 
Our Tefzel wire features an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) insulation with a thermal rating of 302°F, significantly outperforming standard marine wire, which is rated at 220°F. This higher temperature tolerance ensures superior heat resistance, durability, and long-term performance, even in extreme racing conditions.
 
Tefzel wire is widely used in aerospace, avionics, and IndyCar applications, where its lightweight properties, tight dimensional tolerances, and exceptional mechanical durability are critical. Unlike conventional marine wire, Tefzel insulation resists oxidation, fuel exposure, lubricating oils, and other harsh chemicals, ensuring a longer lifespan and more reliable performance.
 
Each kit includes six (6) Tefzel Coil Ground Wires, complete with high-quality terminal rings and heat shrink insulation rated for 600 volts. These wires are specifically designed to replace aging ground wires on your Race Exhaust Plate (as pictured) for 2.0, 2.4, and 2.5-liter Mercury Racing outboards with the 16 amp coil arrangement as found aon all 2.4 liters, SST-120, Pro Max 2.5 Liters, S3000, 260 ROS, 245 HP Carb and many more.
