This is an original remastered STV Custom Race Boats Boat Decal Kit. The kit includes a total of eight (8) high-quality decals. The main decals are a full 24 inches long, just like the originals.
The kit also includes four (4) the of famous crowned or crested "S" logo that was never actually intended for the boat (although we love them on the boat), actually, it was for SAMRAD (Summerford Advanced Marine Research and Development)
Kits are available in black or white!
Applying larger vinyl decals to a boat can be a meticulous process, but with careful preparation and attention to detail, you can achieve a professional look. Here are the steps to follow:
Materials Needed:
Vinyl decals, Isopropyl alcohol or a similar cleaning solution, Lint-free cloths, Masking tape, Squeegee or application tool, Sharp knife or scissors, Measuring tape or ruler, Application fluid (optional)
Steps:
1. *Prepare the Surface:* - Clean the area where the decal will be applied using isopropyl alcohol or a similar cleaning solution. Ensure the surface is free of dirt, grease, and other contaminants. - Dry the area thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
2. *Position the Decal:* - Use masking tape to position the decal on the boat. Apply strips of tape to the top edge of the decal to create a hinge. - Measure and adjust as needed to ensure the decal is straight and in the desired location.
3. *Apply the Decal:* - If using application fluid, lightly mist the surface with the fluid to allow for repositioning. - Peel back a small portion of the backing paper from the top edge of the decal. - Begin applying the decal from the top, using a squeegee or application tool to press the decal onto the surface as you slowly remove the backing paper. Work from the center outwards to remove any air bubbles. - Continue peeling back the backing paper and applying the decal in small sections until the entire decal is transferred onto the boat.
4. *Smooth Out Bubbles:* - Once the decal is fully applied, go over it with the squeegee to remove any remaining air bubbles. Use firm, even pressure and work from the center outwards.
5. *Trim Excess Material:* - If needed, use a sharp knife or scissors to trim any excess vinyl around the edges.
6. *Final Inspection:* - Inspect the decal for any bubbles or wrinkles. If small bubbles are present, they may disappear over time; larger bubbles can be punctured with a pin and smoothed out with the squeegee.
Tips:
1. *Temperature:* Apply decals in a temperature-controlled environment. Ideally, the temperature should be between 50°F and 90°F (10°C to 32°C).
2. *Patience:* Take your time to avoid rushing the process. -
3. *Application Fluid:* This can be a mixture of water and a few drops of dish soap. It helps in repositioning the decal during application.
