If you're running a Mercury 2.0, 2.4, or 2.5-liter 2-stroke EFI outboards with a Brucato ACU (Advanced Control Unit) replacing the Mercury ECU (Engine Control Unit), it's critical to use Resistor Spark Plugs to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential issues.

 

Brucato Power specifically recommends only using the following NGK Spark Plugs for these engines.

 

Here is a breakdown of the recommended NGK Resistor Spark Plugs for Mercury/Mariner outboard models when using the Brucato ACU:

 

(1) BR8HS-10: 1984-1999 (Front-Injected EFI, CDI Ignition) Mercury 2-Stroke V6 150 HP, 175 HP, 200 HP, XRi, Laser, 220 HP, Pro Max 150, Pro Max 200, Pro Max 225, Mariner Super Magnum 150, Mariner Super Magnum 200, Mariner Super Magnum 225.

 

(2) BR9HS-10: 1984-2005 (Side-Injected EFI, CDI Ignition) Mercury 2.4 Brigdeport, 2.5 Liter 260 HP, 280 HP, ROS, 300 Drag, and S3000.

 

(3) BPZ8H: 2000-2005 (Front-Injected EFI, CDM Ignition) Mercury 2-Stroke V6 150 HP, 175 HP, 200 HP, 240 Sport Jet 

 

Tuning Tips: A part number with a (-10) suffix, denotes that the plug was factory-gapped at 0.040” (1mm). We re-gapped all these plugs to 0.035” as recommened by Tony Brucato.  Also, these are designated resistor plugs with a “R” or “Z” in the part number.
